Actalent Hiring for Software Developer at Ottawa, ON Full Time

Description:
Our client is looking for a software engineer to help launch the next generation of cloud-delivered security services, and deliver a stronger offering with unprecedented customer experience! Their engineering team is composed of highly skilled individuals who are comfortable working in a fast paced and technically dynamic environment. Members are involved with all stages of the product development process from solving complex engineering problems to working directly with customers.

This role is with the Cloud Security group. This team is building firewalls and cloud proxys (specifically a zero trust network access solution (proxy)). This is a web proxy. They are using envoy proxy (open source proxy). The customer can access all of their private resources, data center, headquarters, etc. through Cisco’s access solution. This is all application level development. High level design is already completed by the 2 tech leads. This person will be doing a lot of building work but they will also have the opportunity to do design work if they have the skills. The cloud they use is Cisco private data center for deployment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVES:
5+ years application layer software development experience

3+ years Linux based development

3+ years GO OR C coding

Networking experience (L3/L4, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP)

Cloud (understanding what it takes to run a cloud) – Strong nice to have

NICE TO HAVES:
Envoy experience

Bash scripting

Cloud experience (any cloud)

Security products such as firewalls, proxies, inspection engines, classification engines

Devops

SOFT SKILLS:
People who will ask questions. They will look at the process and raise questions to see if its the best way. People who will look for opportunities for improvement.
