Under current Public Health Emergency Directions all Canberra Health Services staff are required to have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination by 29 October and be fully vaccinated by 1 December 2021.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person-centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary, and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding region. The People and Culture Branch is responsible for strategic and operational management, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of strategic people management advice, policy, and programs across CHS. Under broad direction, you will play a key role in providing day to day recruitment support and advice to managers and staff across CHS on all matters relating to recruitment and establishments.

DUTIES

• Provide advice to Managers and staff on the interpretation and application of appropriate standards contained in the Public Sector Management Act 1994, Public Sector Management Standards, and Enterprise Agreements.

• Manage the recruitment process including the CHS email box, for all Temporary, Casual employment, in an e-Recruitment environment as well as all recruitment processes for Senior Medical Practitioners, including advertising.

• Undertake more complex tasks associated with recruitment and establishment matters.

• Assist with Establishment Variation Authorities (EVA) including reviewing current positions and their status, and the review or creation of position descriptions for positions in CHS.

• Provide training and advice regarding recruitment matters for managers and staff as required.

• Undertake quality checks on e-Recruitment requests to ensure compliance with legislation and policy, including vetting of selection reports.

• Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the section with the delivery of high-quality person and family centred, safe and high-quality patient care.

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the procedures and processes involved in the recruitment of staff, including sound knowledge of the legislation governing these processes.

• Demonstrated experience in the operation of an e-Recruitment system in a diverse business environment and ability to guide relevant users through the E-Recruitment system.

• High level communication skills with proven ability to provide relevant advice/instruction to managers and staff on recruitment issues.

• Demonstrated ability to be an effective team member, organise workloads, set priorities and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of Reliable, Progressive, Respectful, and Kind.
