The Position
The Sustaining and support developer (IoT platform) is responsible for investigating and resolving incidents reported by customer support and internal production testing, related to our backend platform, web services, and APIs. They are also responsible for assisting the team in building the technical knowledge base. They will contribute to software development through documenting, developing, and testing software solutions as well as participate in product development from ideation, to deployment, and beyond.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Investigating incidents reported by customer support and internal production testing.
Conducting root cause analysis.
Assess and provide timely responses to incidents in line with defined and desired SLAs.
Incident assessment and classification to known issues and problems.
Build technical knowledge base.
Document problems, bugs, reliability enhancements, etc. in Software Ticketing System (JIRA).
Contribute to software development through documenting, developing, and testing software solutions.
Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables of individual tasks.
Clearly communicate technical problems, processes, and solutions for individual tasks.
Participate in our product development from ideation to deployment and beyond.
Participate in Agile meetings as part of the Software Development Lifecycle.
Completes additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a technical field, including Computer Programming, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent
Professional software development experience in one of: Java, .Net, JavaScript, TypeScript
Backend or API development
Technical documentation
Experience writing SQL queries for relational database reporting
Experience building web services or developing large software systems is considered an asset
Experience supporting Problem and Incident Management processes is considered an asset
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Training or Certificate in Cloud Systems such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is a strong asset
Relational DB SQL Query development and reporting
Ability to read backend code (Node.js, TypeScript)
Experience with ticketing best practices will be beneficial for this role
A good understanding of web servers and network communications
Ability to read and understand log files from software applications and web servers
Strong communication skills in both written and verbal English
Strong attention to detail and problem solving abilities
Quality and customer focused
Additional Information
This position will have the availability of working remotely during COVID-19 as the health and safety of our staff is our utmost priority. This position may require travel post-COVID-19 to our Burlington location at some points in time.
