Ace Hardware Hiring for Commercial Insurance Underwriter Job at Oak Brook, IL Full Time

Responsibilities:
Manage the agency underwriting process for new and renewal business.

Underwrite and price new/renewal policies in accordance with the AIA/fronting carriers growth, retention, rate, profitability and premium goals.

Comply with underwriting guidelines and state regulations.

Monitor and evaluate program claim activity to determine potential positive or adverse trends. Develop strategies to correct the identified trends.

Audit/review and evaluate new business quotes and renewal business to verify risks fall within program tolerances, eligibility pricing/rating objectives. Provide insurance product/coverage training and consultation to direct reports and other members of the AIA team.

Work with the fronting carrier to establish and modify program guidelines as needed. Recommend coverage and rate changes when identified and needed. Participate with the annual AIA insurance program renewals.

Work with outside markets to place coverage on risks that fall outside the fronting carriers appetite i.e. wind, earthquake.

Generate monthly reports to track premium and rate development and program retention. Assist the GM when necessary to create or complete additional reports as needed.

Preferred Skills:
Four year college degree in business related discipline or insurance

CPCU insurance designation

10+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience working with multiple lines of insurance

Captive insurance knowledge is a plus

Supervise an underwriting team. Train and direct team members

Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn multiple insurance processing systems

Need to be very detailed orientated, possess excellent communication skills, learn quickly, be very flexible, work well with others and work well in a team environment
