Job Description

The Business Development Sales Representative drives new business development as well as coverage in Group Sales primarily and other sales and marketing revenue driving roles as necessary. The representative will actively conduct prospecting efforts to assist in generating new business opportunities primarily for the group segment along with other revenue streams for the hotel including Event Sales and Business Travel. Representative will handle Group team market coverage in the absence of Sales Manager. This will include all size bookings 8-250 rooms on peak for all market segments. Representative will manage all social room blocks for events not taking place at the hotel – selling and possibly servicing. Representative will handle all group blocks between 8 and 15 rooms peak night regardless of geographical territory.

• Lead Management: Representative will handle Group team market coverage in the absence of Sales Managers. This cover will include all size bookings in excess of 8 rooms on peak for all market segments. Logging of lead information into Opera system, loading room and meeting specifics based on needs expressed in lead and using space and revenue maximization guidelines. Preparing proposals and client follow up details as well as managing the direct sales effort with the client and the hand over back to the Sales Manager.
• Conduct prospecting efforts to continue to build pipeline of business opportunities for hotel. Prospecting efforts to primarily be telephone based with potential for participation in market blitzes or other local trade shows or client networking events.
• Handle all leads for groups with peak night room needs of 8 – 15 guest rooms. Ensure proper proactive follow up with client and will include logging of lead information into Opera system, loading room and meeting specifics based on needs expressed in lead and using space and revenue maximization guidelines. Preparing proposals and client follow up details as well as managing the direct sales effort with the client
• Relationship management with outside catering venues to maximize guest room block opportunities and referral potential.
• Organize monthly team wide prospecting activities.
• Assist in maintaining an accurate client and account database in Opera and adherence to all Accor Opera system standards.
• Ensure prompt and courteous service is extended to both internal and external customers.
• Attend monthly Sales Meeting and Catering Meeting as necessary.
• Have a complete knowledge of hotel services and accommodations.
• Complete knowledge of competitive set hotels
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Accor Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming in compliance with the company dress code
• Comply at all times with Accor, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Fairmont Copley Plaza standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Arts degree or college diploma is required. Progressive experience in a similar capacity is a definite asset. College course work in related field is helpful.

Must possess a working knowledge of personal computers. Understanding of Opera Software and hotel Property Management Systems is helpful. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software. Ability to assemble and understand integrated spreadsheets.
