Working on The Southern Program Alliance (SPA) would be instrumental in developing your career further, it is one of five alliances responsible for removing 75 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings by 2025 as part of Victoria’s Big Build transport infrastructure program.

The Finance Analyst reports to Finance Cost Manager and is responsible for Alliance cost analysis, month end reporting and supporting the program reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Liaising with internal, non-financial operational and project teams in respect to job cost queries

• Liaising with project management, project planning and others as required to ensure accuracy in project cost phasing and forecasting

• Investigating any cost errors, discrepancies or omissions

• Provide input to the overall Finance function

• Month end reporting, including accruals, cost and system reconciliation

• Liaising with Project Managers to clarify cost related issues

• Assist the project to implement financial controls, including expenditure and cash flow projections

• Assist in the development and implementation of financial control systems, procedures and processes to increase productivity and drive down costs

• Support reporting for the project in compliance with financial control procedures and processes

• Provide assistance with the quarterly cost and system audit of the Alliance

• Creating and maintaining project controls, dashboards and reporting tools

• Ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Project Accountant and/or Finance Cost Manager

• Degree qualified in commerce, accounting or similar
• Completed or Studying CPA highly desirable
• 3+ years’ experience in a similar role based around project and/or head office reporting functions
• Construction based experience in rail or civil infrastructure highly desirable but not essential.
• Experienced in a highly transactional/volume driven environment
• Demonstrated experience working across various levels of organisational managers and staff.
