Accenture Hiring for Tax Specialist Job at Sydney Full Time

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated tax specialist to manage the tax compliance quality of Accenture Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Based in Australia and direct reporting to the ANZ Tax Manager. You will be assisting the ANZ Tax Manager to improve and create processes to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all tax positions in Australia and New Zealand.

The ideal candidate should possess strong tax knowledge and comprehensive experiences in major tax areas as well as communication skills with both external (tax authority) and internal counter parties (finance and business colleagues).

Overall responsibilities:

Tax compliance

General

• Liaise with external tax advisors and statutory authorities in relation to technical and compliance issues in Australia & New Zealand.
• Assist with tax reviews and audits together with global tax and interactions with tax and revenue authorities.
• Assist with research and provide advice/recommendations on the tax implications of non-standard transactions including income tax, withholding taxes, GST and FBT.
• Work with relevant stakeholders to coordinate, prepare, review and lodgement of all required tax filing for acquired entities from mergers and acquisitions in Australia & New Zealand.

Income Tax

• Assist with the coordination and compilation information and documents required for the preparation of the annual income tax returns and supporting schedules Accenture Australia MEC Group, Avanade Australia and Accenture New Zealand.
• Review the monthly interest and royalty withholding tax calculations and returns.
• Calculation of the entity tax provisions and true-ups for Accenture Australia, Accenture New Zealand, and Avanade Australia in accordance to Accounting Standards.

Indirect Tax / Other Taxes

• Review monthly Business Activity Statement (BAS) workpapers for Accenture Australia, Accenture New Zealand and Avanade Australia and undertake internal controls testing to ensure the integrity of the BAS preparation process.
• Coordinating the data collection, analysis and compilation and review of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) files and associated documentation provided from internal sources, and manage the timely lodgement of the FBT returns for Accenture Australia, Accenture New Zealand and Avanade Australia.

• Analyse accounts payable invoices for GST compliance and FBT reporting, ensure service level of agreement is met. Validate payment requests and ensure correct tax coding is applied according to the ATO guidelines.
• Analyse financial data for the purpose of preparing Accenture Australia and Avanade Australia FBT return and reportable benefits lists for PAYG Summary Disclosure, ensuing statutory lodgment dates are met.
• Analyse any additional benefits given to the employees in lieu of taxable salary and determine whether they are subject to FBT according to the ATO guidelines.
• Analyse information for the purpose of preparing the quarterly Accenture New Zealand FBT return.

Global and Business Reporting

• Assist with coordinating the preparation and review of taxation reports as requested to meet global or business reporting requirements.
• Participate in specific projects and government reporting as required.
• Assist with post deal tax management for Merger & Acquisitions companies.

Tax process improvement and management

• Work with finance and global tax to implement and improve end-to-end tax process and procedures to mitigate risks.
• Make recommendations and identify opportunities in improving the compliance processes to ensure efficiency, decrease cost and facilitate tax planning.
• Foster good working relationships with internal staff to provide appropriate and timely input to enable compliance obligations to be met.
• Monitor tax related legislative and regulatory developments that may affect the company.
• Keep good relationship and regular communication with local tax authorities.
• Maintain and enhance skills appropriate to the position, including tax technical skills and systems operating skills.

Education & Experience

• Commerce/Accounting degree preferable with minimum of 5 years work experience in an accounting/tax function;
• High level of Australian and New Zealand tax knowledge with concentration in the Income Tax, GST and FBT field;
• Experience with tax assurance review and audits;
• Knowledge of accounting principles;
• Computer literacy – Word, Advanced Excel, Access and familiarity with financial information
• CPA / CA is preferred
