Position Summary

As a Data Engineer Lead, you will play a key role in the development of AccelByte’s products. Building systems with security, scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency in mind is a must.

Our ideal candidate has a love for games and the ability to collaborate with our game developers, customers, and other service developers in order to build online services and tools to power games at scale. We seek versatile engineers with strong judgment, great execution, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities. While working in a fully open, transparent, and collaborative team, in this role you will be collaborating closely with other team members helping drive the delivery of amazing features and services.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
The Data Engineer Lead is accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

Work with product managers for cloud cost technical support inquiries from clients and generate and deliver monthly cloud cost reports

Work with multiple cross-functional teams to ensure project and client success

Own the schedule, work with stakeholders and the team to build project plans, schedule, roadmap, and manage dependencies to ensure successful deliveries

Architect and develop maintainable, scalable, high-performance, end-to-end data pipeline with high observability, error handling, and automated deployment.

Write ETL scripts and SQL code and work to improve ETL pipelines

Promote and apply best practices to produce clean, extensible, testable, and performant code, writes reliable code with minimum supervision, perform code reviews, create code quality improvement ideas and oversee the code quality of others

Write and maintain optimal transformation logic to generate optimal Data Assets

Monitor cloud cost anomalies and solve them in a timely manner

Gain a deep understanding of AccelByte’s platform, system architecture, current infrastructure principles, and knowledge. and integration components

Provide cloud cost observability into applications and infrastructure through metrics, logging, and monitoring to ensure platform uptime, utilization, and cost-efficiency

Oversee the creation of tools for automating cost monitoring, alerting, and reporting

Create process and documentation around Cloud Service Provider offerings detailing use cases, best practices, and implementation details with cost efficiency

Build, grow, and lead the analytics team

Ensure team deliverables are in line with existing priorities between core product, clients, and business team

Identify technical issues and risks and direct them to the correct team member to resolve

Coach team members and create individual growth plans for their career development

Perform any other duties as required.

Qualifications/Experience Required:
5+ years experience in backend/data engineering

Deep understanding of analytics pipelines and processes and ability to architect complex data pipelines

Good communication skills, decision-making, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Prior experience developing scalable, observable, and maintainable microservices and REST API services.

Experience using containerization stack (Docker, Compose, Kubernetes). and other tools such as git, Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, GitLab CI, Nexus, SonarQube, Terraform, Helm, Prometheus, ELK/EFK, Grafana, CloudWatch

Excellent understanding of Python

Expert understanding of software engineering and security best practices

Solid understanding of software engineering and security best practices

Able to develop testing and monitoring for data pipelines and microservices

Able to develop testing and monitoring for data pipelines and microservices

Able to write SQL queries for data analytical purposes and tune its performance

Excellent knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and their performance

Familiar with data storage stacks such as Kafka, Redis, RDBMS (MYSQL/POSTGRES), Data Warehouses (Redshift / BigQuery / Snowflake)

Familiar with data pipeline stacks such as Airflow and Kafka Consumer/Producer

Familiarity with infrastructure management and operations lifecycle concepts and ecosystem, deep understanding of IaC and GitOps

Experience using Linux

Experience in data modeling and writing ETL scripts

Experience with data stack technologies

Flexibility to adjust to working routines/schedules, as required, to meet the needs of the company and the expectations of customers

Proficiency in written and verbal English language to succeed in a remote work environment

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Previous experience working in the game industry

Ability to use Golang, Java, bash

Experience with Lambda or Athena

Experience with ElasticSearch
