This role involves heading up a team of procurement and logistics specialists in the Automation & Electrification Solutions, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) in Houston, Texas, implementing effective sourcing strategies to ensure that suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. You will be responsible for driving excellence in the execution of purchasing and logistics strategies that aid the business by optimizing costs, quality and reliability of suppliers and supplied products.

Your responsibilities

• Design and implement plan for local sourcing strategies to reach the business targets
• Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR (Human Resource) policies
• Responsible for coordinating Procurement & Logistics talent management and succession planning
• Manages planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, emerging country spending and saving forecasts
• Apply and implement Procurement & Logistics standards, tools and processes to secure quality, delivery, cost and sustainability
• Monitors the Procurement & Logistics processes and activities. Proactively works to resolve issues related to procurement cost, quality and delivery
• Monitors and s internal and supplier performance (KPIs), quality, supplier reduction/rationalization/diversity etc
• Participate in Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing. Leverages category teams locally, regionally and globally to ensure appropriate supplier selection
• Define and establish local standard agreements with all major local suppliers
• Screen supplier capabilities including performing organizational, financial, health and safety and process capability assessments in accordance with ABBs corporate supplier and subcontractor qualification policies and procedures
• Conduct rigorous RFQ (Request for quotation) processes including coordinating clarifications with engineering and other internal stakeholders, analyzing quotation responses, detailed cost analyses and preparing sourcing recommendations
• Prepare bid tabulations, lead negotiations including final pricing and the establishment of supply contracts or master service agreements based on total cost of ownership
• Prepare bid packages, conduct bidder’s conferences, analyze and evaluate proposals, negotiate subcontract provisions, select or recommend subcontractors, issue awards and administer resulting subcontracts
• Work with proposals and project management teams to develop competitive proposals
• Develop and update sourcing strategies that increase leverage, improve quality and reduce total cost
• Design and implement cost out programs and/or processes to reach financial targets
• Design and implement plans of Emerging Market/local sourcing to reach the business targets
• As appropriate, recommend alternative sources of supply to minimize problems
• Standardize processes and implements routines as per Group directives / instructions
• Prepare and implement procurement plans, schedules, lead and coordinate efforts of a project team
• Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders and compliance with legal requirements and Company policy
• Resolve non conformance issues, back charges and claims in a timely manner to minimize the Company’s exposure
• Expedite purchases from suppliers for sites to minimize downtime and improve availability
• Provide ongoing support to other functional areas, as it relates to purchasing and logistics issues. Perform supplier performance evaluations

Your background

• A bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant field and minimum 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or relevant fields
• Demonstrated experience working with enterprise resource planning and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of SAP a plus
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with a collaborative, solution focused approach
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
