We are looking to hire an energetic individual for the position of kitchen assistant.

Job duties include food preparation, making desserts, making starters, washing dishes, and cleaning the kitchen.

Kitchen Assistant Job Description

We are a busy pizza restaurant looking for a hardworking and reliable kitchen assistant to join our team. As a kitchen assistant, you will be responsible for:

• Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene
• Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes
• Assisting the pizzaiolo with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat
• Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls
• Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies
• Organizing and correctly storing food supplies
• Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the pizzaiolo’s instructions
• Preparing food items according to recipe or customer’s specifications as directed by the pizzaiolo
• Performing well under pressure and working quickly and efficiently
• Lifting a weight up to 25kg

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Proven experience assisting in kitchens or similar environments
• A food handler’s certification
• The ability to stand for extended periods
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• The ability to work in a team
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Effective communication skills
