Job description

I am an Independent Contractor for Fedex Ground Systems Inc. Due to the COVID19 pandemic and social distancing, the online shopping industry is currently experiencing a phenomenal rate of growth. And we are designated as an “Essential Service” which means you will not be out of work! Currently a 50% increase over last year at the same time. I am currently looking for qualified part time/full time drivers to join my team immediately.

The terminal is located near Mapleview and the 400. The hours are 630am until finished (between 2pm-5pm depending on volume and your efficiency.

All equipment, fuel, uniforms and training provided. Vacation pay is included in your weekly cheque. Statutory holiday pay is as per the government schedule. Taxes are remitted to CRA on your behalf with a T4 issued to you in Feb. No benefits. No split days. A knowledge of south central Ontario would be a definite asset. Especially Caledon, Caledon East, Palgrave, Mono Mills, Bolton, Tottenham, Beeton and Loretto. Also Brechin, Sebright, Beaverton, Cannington, Pefferlaw, Sutton, Mount Albert, Holland Landing and Sharon.

You must have experience driving a cube van(Preference for this vehicle), school bus or larger for a minimum of one year within the last three years or five years within the last ten years commercially or experience driving an under 10,000 kg van such as a sprinter/transit for six months to 1 year with a CLEAN abstract. If you have a clear criminal search, can route yourself through an area efficiently after one week of training doing approximately 85-110 stops per day on average (some days more, some days less), have a working knowledge of south central Ontario, are in decent physical condition, can start work at 630 am, possess a positive attitude, operate a small hand held scanner, have good customer service skills and are a team player. I want to interview with you.

To qualify you need…

Be at least 21 yrs old

A valid G license with a CLEAN abstract

A CLEAR criminal search

Pass a four hour online defensive driver training module

Other Attributes…

You should be physically fit. We deliver envelopes and small packages. (approx 30%). Medium size packages (approx 45%). Large packages (approx 25%). The weight limit is 150 lbs with a dolly.

Responsibilities and Duties

Timely delivery and pick up of parcels, envelopes and larger boxes to required destinations within the daily outlined route.

Safe, courteous driving practices

Use of handheld scanner

Coordinate with other terminal personnel and drivers

Fueling, occasional oil and tire changes and dropping off and picking up from repairs

Job Type: Part time, Permanent

Salary: $180/day (Saturdays) to start. Could lead to $44,000-$55,000/yr full time

Beyond Stop threshold target, a bonus is provided on top of the daily rate
