Assembly Shop Fitter
Location: Ontario, Canada Type: Permanent, Full-time Field: Manufacturing / Assembly & Repair Level: Technician
About the Role We are seeking a skilled Assembly Shop Fitter to join our aerospace manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will assemble and disassemble aircraft landing gear components and related flight systems, working from technical drawings and standardized process instructions. The position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision work and thrives in a high-tech, quality-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble aircraft landing gear components, shock struts, actuators, and flight control assemblies according to engineering drawings and process documentation
- Inspect components to confirm proper fits, alignments, and overall condition
- Identify corrosion, wear, and other abnormalities in supplied parts
- Flag non-conformances encountered during the assembly process
- Carry out repair and rebuild tasks on landing gear and flight control components as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or as operational needs dictate
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate of an Aircraft Maintenance program, Licensed AME, or a minimum of five years of equivalent experience in a related field
- Proficiency with hand tools and machine tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical schematics
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills; exposure to lean manufacturing principles is an asset
- Basic computer skills considered an asset
- Minimum age of 18
