Role Overview

The Narrative Refinery is building a reliable network of freelance photographers and videographers to support ongoing client work across Ontario.

This role is designed for creatives who want consistent shooting opportunities without having to constantly source and secure their own clients.

You’ll be brought in to execute pre-planned shoots, with all strategy, creative direction, and editing handled by our team.

What Makes This Role Different

Most freelance gigs don’t stop at shooting. You’re usually expected to plan the shoot, go back and forth with clients, and spend hours editing and revising after.

This is built differently.

• No planning the concept or building shot lists
• No ongoing client back-and-forth
• No long editing sessions or revisions

Everything is mapped out ahead of time. You show up, shoot what’s needed, and send off the raw files. It’s designed for creatives who enjoy being behind the camera and want to spend more time shooting, not managing or editing.

What You’ll Do

• Shoot photo and/or video content on-site at client locations you’re assigned to based on your location and availability
• Occasionally join a short intro call with the client prior to filming
• Capture both structured and candid content, using a clear shot list with visual references as your guide
• Deliver organized raw files after each shoot to The Narrative Refinery

Who This Is A Fit For

This role is ideal if you:

• Are a photographer, videographer, or hybrid shooter with real project experience
• Have a strong visual eye for lighting, composition, and brand-driven content
• Enjoy shooting but want to spend less time editing or managing clients
• Are reliable, professional, and comfortable walking into client environments
• Are based in or able to travel within Ontario

We are also open to experienced UGC creators who are comfortable shooting on-site for brands and have access to professional equipment.

Compensation

Project-based rates, determined per shoot depending on scope, duration, and experience.

Requirements

• Portfolio of relevant work (photo and/or video required)
• Access to reliable, professional-level equipment
• Ability and willingness to travel within Ontario
• Strong communication and professionalism
