We are committed to delivering accurate, affordable, and accessible diagnostic solutions for healthcare providers and patients across India and global markets.POSITION SUMMARYThe R&D Trainee will work closely with senior scientists and technologists in the development, optimization, and quality evaluation of rapid test cards (lateral flow assays), ELISA kits, and other immunodiagnostic products. This is a hands-on, laboratory-focused role ideal for candidates looking to build a career in diagnostic product development.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESRapid Test Card (Lateral Flow Assay) Development•       Assist in the development and optimization of lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) test strips for infectious diseases, hormones, and drug-of-abuse panels.•       Support conjugation of antibodies/antigens to colloidal gold or latex beads for signal generation.•       Perform nitrocellulose membrane blocking, antibody/antigen striping, and lamination processes.•       Conduct sensitivity, specificity, and cross-reactivity studies for new test formulations.•       Participate in prototype assembly, evaluation, and iterative optimization cycles.ELISA Kit Development & Optimization•       Assist in development of sandwich, competitive, and indirect ELISA formats.•       Support coating of microplate wells with capture antibodies/antigens and optimization of blocking reagents.•       Prepare and standardize HRP/AP-conjugated detection antibodies and TMB/pNPP substrates.•       Perform ELISA plate reading, curve fitting, and data analysis using appropriate software.•       Help establish cut-off values, analytical sensitivity, and linearity parameters.General R&D Laboratory Activities•       Prepare reagents, buffers, and working solutions according to SOPs.•       Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and experimental records.•       Assist in lot-to-lot testing and stability studies (real-time and accelerated aging).•       Support method validation activities as per ISO 13485 / CDSCO regulatory requirements.•       Contribute to troubleshooting of product failures or non-conformances during development.•       Operate and maintain lab instruments including ELISA readers, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, and incubators.Documentation & Compliance•       Prepare and maintain R&D documentation such as batch records, experimental protocols, and reports.•       Follow GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and GMP guidelines at all times.•       Support preparation of Technical Files and Design History Files (DHF) for regulatory submissions.QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSEducational Qualification (Any of the following):•       B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related field•       B.Tech / M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering or Biotechnology•       Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) with relevant lab experienceSkills & Competencies:•       Basic understanding of immunoassay principles (ELISA, lateral flow, agglutination)•       Familiarity with standard lab techniques: pipetting, centrifugation, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis•       Knowledge of antibody-antigen interactions, protein chemistry, and buffer preparation•       Good analytical and data interpretation skills•       Proficiency in MS Excel/Word for data recording and report preparation•       Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environmentExperience:•       Freshers are welcome to apply; prior internship or project experience in diagnostics/IVD is a plus•       Hands-on laboratory project experience during academic tenure will be advantageousWHAT WE OFFER•       Structured on-the-job training in rapid test and ELISA kit manufacturing•       Exposure to the complete product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization•       Mentorship from experienced R&D scientists in the IVD industry•       Opportunity for conversion to a full-time role based on performance•       Certificate of training and experience letter upon successful completion•       Stipend as per industry standardsHOW TO APPLYInterested candidates may send their updated CV along with a brief cover letter mentioning their area of interest to the HR department at Astam Diagnostics.
