Summary:

As a PSW within Spectrum Health Care, you will be responsible for providing exceptional personal care to our patients in East York, Toronto (Eglinton Ave E & Don Mills RD area). However, we are also hiring for PSWs that are available to work in downtown Toronto and Scarborough . The PSW will provide a safe environment, positive emotional support, and thorough care of our patients. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about caring for others.

Responsibilities:

PSWs are responsible for providing personal care, hygiene, and assistance with activities of daily living for clients in the community. Other responsibilities include:

Adheres to the safe work/risk management policies and procedures of Spectrum Health Care

Works within the Ethical Practice Framework of Spectrum Health Care

Understands the range of services provided by each division of the Spectrum family and how it contributes to our model of Total Client Care

Continually assesses, anticipates, identifies and responds to new and changing needs of clients and communicates available Total Client Care resources to clients when appropriate

Qualifications/Experience:

Valid Level “C” CPR and Standard First Aid certification;

and have one of the following:

a Personal Support Worker Certificate from a curriculum approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or the Ministry of Education; or

a Home Support Worker (Level 2 or 3), or Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized curriculum with the understanding that workers are moving to 100% PSW status; or

has a valid certificate as an RN, RPN or Practical Nurse; or

is an RN/RPN Student with a minimum successful completion of year one; or

is a Foreign-trained Nurse, Midwife or Physician; or

has a valid certificate as a Personal Attendant, or Personal Attendant +2; or

is a Personal Support Worker (PSW) students (with successful completion of PA+2 level of training and verification of their transcript and household management experience); or

is a graduate of a paramedic program; or

is an Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant.

Ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely and for extended periods; ability to lift 23 kilograms independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed.

Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.

Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check

Updated immunization record

Proficient verbal and written English communication skills

Flexible work schedule (Monday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday)

Valid G level driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle is an asset
