Responsibilities

The responsibilities of an Educational Assistant (PK) include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Maintains a safe environment
• Attends in-service training
• Understands and maintain the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the certified teacher
• Assists with the overall operation of the program while the students are present
• Maintains records as directed
• Conducts individualized and/or group activities with students as directed by the certified teacher
• Assists in the care, maintenance and ordering of classroom equipment and materials
• Assists with the clerical duties as assigned by the certified teacher
• Performs other duties as assigned

Applicants for the above position are REQUIRED to be Highly Qualified, which is defined as: Two (2) years of college (Minimum of 48 Semester Hours, or 72 Quarter Hours), or possess an Associate’s Degree, or passed the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.

Applicants must submit a copy of their Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results, or a copy of their college transcript(s) to verify their Highly Qualified Status.

Applicants must also have a valid Educational Aide Permit, or obtain one immediately upon being employed with the Canton City School District. If you do not meet the criteria for Highly Qualified, you are not eligible to apply.
