Finance Director, Puerto Rico Job at Guaynabo, PR US Full Time

This individual will be leading the Puerto Rico Finance Team across both locations but will have direct ownership of the Manati locations finance and accounting day to day activity. This role will report to the Director of Finance. The role will provide financial consulting and strategic support to the Puerto Rico team, including preparing and delivering management presentations, financial presentations, and capital expenditure analysis. This individual will partner with the Area leadership team in driving initiatives that will increase sales, profitability, and overall area performance. This function acts as the analytical engine of the area to provide insights and support optimal business decision making. Responsibilities will include: participating in area leadership business reviews, financial monthly/quarterly forecast, annual budgeting process, and development of more streamlined rolling forecast (latest view) process, operating plan variance analysis and special projects.

• Act as lead finance business partner to the Puerto Rico area packaging team to create value add, business orientated finance management and accounting function excellence
• Manage and support the entire Puerto Rico Finance Team in both Guaynabo and Manati, with direct ownership of the Manati location day to day finance and accounting operations.
• Manage and develop weekly and month end reporting processes, providing relevant financial information to support Operations and Commercial functions in the Puerto Rico packaging business
• Manage and support the preparation of the monthly financials, including the P&L, inventory, and balance sheet reconciliations for Puerto Rico Packaging businesses
• Oversee existing accounting programs and make process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and improve processes
• Run Puerto Rico Area forecasting and planning processes
• Develop metrics to monitor and analyze weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operating performance, focusing on P&L and Cash Flow metrics
• Support operations in business objectives to improve customer profitability and reduce stock holding levels in each reduce raw materials, work in progress and finished goods
• Support special projects and financial analysis as proposed by the packaging leadership team and the PR packaging team
• Work closely with the site teams to improve the control environment, review internal audit action plan and reduce risks within the business
• Ensure compliance with group accounting manual, schedule of authorities and with group treasury and fx hedging policies
• Support analysis and review of supplier and customer contract reviews
• Liaise with the Americas FP&A Team and group functions such as Group Finance, Treasury, Tax and Legal on PR Packaging corporate matters
• Provide clear direction, open communications, positive coaching and appropriate training to develop employees for increasing levels of responsibility to meet the long term needs of the business.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA, CPA or CMA is preferred

· 10+ years experience in accounting and/or financial analysis management roles

· Previous role as Finance Manager in multi-site international business

· Performed a direct costing role in manufacturing or distribution environment

· Experience in providing direct commercial and operational support

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

· MS Office / use of financial consolidation system such as Cognos Controller or Hyperion / ERP system experience such as SAP or equivalent

· Effective at managing people and processes

· Flexible and able to react positively to change

· Able to challenge the existing work practices

· Ability to maintain accounting controls and reduce audit risks

· Languages: English and Spanish preferred
