Baker Education are working with a fantastic Primary SEN/SEMH school who are looking for a dedicated and creative SEN Teacher for one of their primary classes.
The school supports children and young people with a range of SEMH and neurodiverse needs. The staff and senior leaders ensure that all lessons and activities are centred around the individual needs of the pupils. They provide a kind, caring and safe environment where the pupils can thrive and shine.
The role is open to ECTs or experienced teachers, who either have existing SEN teaching experience or a genuine desire to work in a special school setting. Due to the complex nature of the students, it is imperative that you are committed to working in a specialist provision.
The school follows the National Curriculum and you will be responsible for the full planning, delivery and assessment of lessons for your subject or key stage specialism. Previous experience of training in SEND (e.g. SEMH, Trauma-Informed Practice, Autism) is desirable, but not essential.
Your experience does not have to be in a special school setting. The school will be happy to consider mainstream teachers who are looking to move into a more specialist role.
Strong classroom and behaviour management strategies and the ability to differentiate your teaching is essential. You will be working in small class sizes with a high staff to pupil ratio so the ability to collaborate with your colleagues and utilise the available resources and support staff is also an essential part of the role.
Learner engagement, progression and improving attainment and aspirations for the students is at the centre of everything you will do.
