Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and high performing Corporate Development Analyst or Manager to join our team. 

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate finance, commercial negotiation and business development, ideally with experience in the energy or infrastructure sectors. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, negotiate deals, and execute strategies that maximize value for our partners.

This is a rare opportunity for a candidate with a background in finance and corporate development to leverage their skillset in a fast-paced start-up environment. You will have the opportunity to innovate new financing solutions and play a role in digital product development while building a broad network in the climate-tech and climate investment sectors.  

Working directly with the Founder and CEO, the candidate will play a crucial role in client success with the opportunity for rapid career growth and incentives based on outperformance.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships with climate tech businesses to understand their asset deployment needs and funding requirements.
• Support development businesses with establishing robust commercial processes to underpin go to market and funding opportunities
• Undertake negotiations and deal structuring processes to secure funding, strategic partnerships, and asset deployment agreements.
• Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and industry developments to inform business decisions and identify potential partnership opportunities.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis, and investigate and design ways to provide innovative funding solutions to the market. 

Qualifications:

• Dedication and enthusiasm for working in a start-up environment, with a proactive and adaptable mindset. Passion for commercialising climate solutions is a plus. 
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, law, accounting, engineering or similar
• 2+ years of relevant experience in project or corporate development, corporate finance teams, M&A advisory, project finance, or similar. Experience in energy, infrastructure, carbon or resources sectors is advantageous. 
• Strong understanding of financial analysis, deal structuring, and commercial negotiation processes.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and curiosity to solve complex problems and pitch new solutions
• Proven track record of driving business growth and executing successful corporate development initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for innovation and technology, with a keen interest in real assets.

Working Location

Waterfall’s office is located in the Greenhouse Climate Tech Hub at Salesforce Tower, 180 George St, Sydney. This is an office-first role with flexibility for remote work subject to business needs. Some business travel in the APAC region may be required.
