Working in a team environment, daily tasks will include the design of additions and modifications to power generation related electrical systems including :

• Electrical Calculations – load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, coordination, arc flash, and lighting analysis using various engineering software such as ETAP, SKM, Visual, etc.
• Low and medium voltage design – (panel boards, transformers, switchgear, MCC’s)
• Relay protection for an electrical system. (differential, feeder, and motor protection).
• Basic instrumentation and controls interfacing with PLC’s and DCS.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

• Work under the direction of Senior / Principal Engineers and Engineering Managers.
• Apply basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices to design in area of specialty.
• On a task basis, is responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Work closely with design team and other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Perform technical and coordination checking / review of deliverables and other project documents.
• Prepare calculations using engineering formulas and skills or application specific software as required.
• Manage personal task assignments, and adheres to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned tasks.
• Assist in resolution of construction issues, supporting design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner.
• Read electrical drawings and develop single lines, three lines, elementary diagrams, wiring drawings and physical drawings.
• Preform power systems calculations such as arc flash, short circuit, protection and coordination, load flow, voltage drop, underground cable ampacity, battery sizing, UPS loading, etc.
