GENERAL SUMMARY

The Electrical Engineer I will provide technical assistance to plant maintenance, process, engineering, and operation groups in the diagnosis of electrical malfunctions, determination of necessary repairs, and root cause elimination of the malfunctions.

Design and install engineered electrical control solutions for small projects and support larger capital projects. Promote safety in the workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions to machine control systems and make recommendations to improve safety, reliability and quality concerns
• Experience and proficiency with ladder logic and various PLC programming languages, Siemens and Allen Bradley preferred
• Support development of new and modify existing PLC and / or HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded controls systems
• Knowledge of AC and DC circuitry and electrical concepts
• Working knowledge of field control devices (motors, drives, relays, switches, safety instrumentation, etc.)
• Support design, development, installation, commissioning, and improvement of automation, instrumentation and control systems
• Electrical control system hardware design experience (control panel and field wiring)
• Competency in Electrical CAD
• Coordinate with plant management, production scheduling, and support groups to complete projects on schedule
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Assist and lead continuous improvement projects to improve safety, reliability, quality, and OEE
• Document specifications, changes, and operating procedures of control systems
• Participate in the set-up and commissioning of new systems or upgrading of current systems

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or 10+ years of technical maintenance, engineering, or related experience in the manufacturing industry
• Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell PLC Programming experience required
• Working knowledge of power distribution, networks, PLC, HMI, and drive hardware and software
• Must possess a sense of urgency and ownership when working within time constraints
• Maintain project timelines, status and documentation within project management software, Smartsheet
