Join our Intelligent Transport Systems & Electrical (ITS&E) South Coast to supervise and co-ordinate road lighting, traffic signals, and Intelligent Transport System (ITS) construction and maintenance.

Our Intelligent Transport Systems & Electrical team is a part of the Statewide Network Operations (SNO) Branch and our objective is to operate and optimise the road network to safely and efficiently move people and goods.

In the role of Principal Technical Officer (Electrical) some of your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing specialist technical advice in the management and co-ordination of consultants and contractors engaged in the planning, design, construction, testing and commissioning of road lighting, ITS and Traffic System applications associated with the operation and construction of roadway infrastructure projects.
• Monitor the design and construction performance of consultants and contractors, evaluate their compliance with departmental policies and standards, contract conditions and specifications.
• Assessing and providing advice on variations to works for design and construction contracts of ITS&E and make recommendations on variations to costs and timeframes.
• Undertaking public consultation on complex traffic issues and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to achieve appropriate and acceptable solutions to traffic related issues.
• Developing inspection test plans, reviewing traffic management plans, preparing pre-start meetings and performing inspections.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• Good analytical and technical skills as they apply to road lighting, ITS and Electrical systems knowledge.
• Specialist knowledge of traffic signal and ITS design, installation, and asset management.
• Sound relationship building skills that can be used to project manage contractors and consultants to deliver successful outcomes.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to articulate problems and solutions to a variety of audiences.
• Enthusiasm to positively influence team culture and create strong working relationships within the Statewide Network Operations team throughout Queensland.

Mandatory Qualifications And Conditions

• Construction White Card
• Current holder of a Class C drivers’ licence

• LVR / CPR certificate
