Austin Group Hiring for Warehouse Operations Manager at Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, Australia Full Time

The Role

We are a leading retail business, excited to announce the opening of a brand-new distribution facility, and we are on the hunt for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to join our dynamic team.

You will play a crucial part in the smooth functioning and overall management for the distribution centre, ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods and inventory management. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, resourceful, and exceptional leader. In this new role, you will have the opportunity to build a team from scratch and make a significant impact in the success of our new warehouse.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Oversee the overall functioning of the warehouse, including but not limited to receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of merchandise
• Develop and implement efficient warehouse procedures and policies to optimise productivity and minimise errors
• Develop a comprehensive set of metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the warehouse team
• Leading and developing a high-performing team, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations, to ensure a cohesive and motivated workforce
• Monitor inventory levels, ensuring accurate counts and timely replenishment
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly plans for the operations function so that it has sufficient resources to achieve its agreed objectives
• Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery and availability of inventory
• Maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations, and promoting best practices among team members
• Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and other tools to track inventory, monitor performance, and generate s for Senior Management
• Management of distribution centre budgets
• Continuously evaluate and improve warehouse processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
• Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to warehousing
• Additional activities as directed from time to time by Senior Management

You will have:

• Proven experience managing warehouse operations in a retail (apparel) distribution environment
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including inventory management and distribution processes
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce
• A passion for operational excellence
• Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other inventory software applications
• An analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive operational improvements
• Previous experience using a companywide ERP
• Relevant experience in recruiting high performing and engaged teams
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce compliance
• A detailed and focused approach to work, be highly organised and a self-starter
• A positive ‘can do’ attitude and the willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative work environment
