A Food Import company located in New York City is looking for a food sales representative.

The sales representative will be responsible for executing and improving all sales activities through distributors in a designated market.

To be eligible for this position, the candidate must have more than three years of experience in food sales, specifically in canned food or similar products. The ideal candidate must also be proficient in working with brokers to establish and maintain good relationships.

Main Responsibilities:

• Proven ability to execute an effective marketing & sales strategy; can analyze the competitive landscape, define a course of action, and meet the needs of brokers/ customers
• Develops the company’s product working with brokers to large retail chain stores and small retails stores.
• Analyzes sales statistics to determines sales potential and inventory requirements for customers.
• Communicates with overseas suppliers in order to negotiate for prices and contracts.
• Takes order, controls inventory, and monitors shipping and delivery’s status.
• Import tasks such as negotiating with suppliers from overseas, placing orders, and arranging shipment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from four-years college or university or equivalent working experience.
• Over 3 years of sales experience in the food industry, preferable canned food or similar products.
• Food brokers management experience is required.
• Intermediate computer skills, knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint required, along with the ability to understand/analyze syndicated data including experience using IRI / Nielsen database.
• Ability to travel of up to 10%.
