Manhattan Youth Hiring for After-School Teaching Artists at New York, NY Full Time


PART TIME: Manhattan Youth seeks energetic and enthusiastic teachers to join our 2017-18 After-School team. Candidates must be punctual, reliable, personable, and have experience coaching, teaching, or playing with grades K-5.

Commitment: Semesters run September-January and February-June. We prefer teachers that can commit to both sessions.

Classes run every day the DOE is in session, including half-days.

  • 1st period 3:30-4:30 (most classes are 1st period)
  • 2nd period 4:45-5:45 (limited classes operate 2nd period)

Lesson plans and curriculum based on organization’s class description and goals. Culminating events at the end of both semesters, usually the last 2 weeks of program.

Qualifications

  • Excellent practical experience in your subject area; professional experience a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to serving children (K-8) in diverse communities and neighborhoods across NYC. Coaches must have a minimum 2 years coaching/teaching experience.
  • All applicants must have successful previous experience in a summer camp and/or after-school program with 3 great job references.
  • For all positions, a positive attitude and a team-player mindset is a must. We are looking for hardworking, proactive, professional staff.
