The Role

We are serving the top 25% of the Xero user base. The majority of our customers are in Australia, as Xero’s biggest market. We’re hiring an Australia-based APAC Expansion Lead. You will be instrumental in driving the next stage of our growth. You will initially be our sole APAC based team member.

You will work alongside and directly to David, our Co-Founder & CEO. This role is as broad as they come. It will encompass marketing, sales, partnerships, account management, customer success, support, operations and some elements of product. Specifically:

• Delivering demos and sales meetings (predominantly via video call) to all APAC based prospects (both in-house finance teams and accounting firms) and successfully converting them to paying customers;
• Delivering account management, customer success and customer support to all APAC based trialists and customers;
• Forming and developing partnership relationships, both with accounting softwares that we integrate with, and complementary solutions that serve the same target customer base;
• Marketing, to the extent that it needs to be local. You won’t need PPC and SEO skills, but think in person events and any local content we need;
• We are rapidly developing our product offering. You will be our eyes and ears in our largest market. Your insights about what our customers need will be instrumental to our product roadmap decisions.

About You

• First-hand experience of the problems we solve is essential. You will have worked (likely qualified) as an accountant / finance person. You will be fluent in debits and credits;
• Hyper-organised. There will be so many moving parts to juggle in this role;
• Excitement about sales. You don’t need to be any kind of sales pro, or even have done a sales role before. But the prospect of doing it needs to excite you, not elicit dread;
• A great relationship builder;
• Passionate about product. You don’t need to be dreaming of a future in product management. But you are someone who is excited and curious about the possibilities of software products;
• This role must be an exciting step up and opportunity to learn, rather than a short-term step down. If you’re reading this and thinking “I’ll suck it up and do the support for 3 months before I can then hire someone to do that instead of me”, this role isn’t for you.

The Details

• Competitive salary;
• Share options from day 1;
• 25 days’ paid holiday, plus public holidays;
• It is anticipated that you will need to travel around Australia for events at least once a quarter;
• There will likely be occasional travel to Asia and New Zealand in due course;
• You will travel to HQ in the UK at least once a year;
• Time differences mean that some degree of early morning or evening calls is unavoidable. We will make sure the weight of those is borne evenly between you and the relevant UK team members.
