Pay Rate: $18.00 and up based on experience and proficiency

Pathology Scheduler Essential Job Duties:

Primary:

• Informing patient of biopsy results and plan for treatment.
• Scheduling appropriate treatment with provider and/or surgeons.
• Processing prior authorizations for procedures when required.
• Maintaining path logs and ensuring patient compliance with treatment and follow-up.
• Sending follow-up letters for delayed treatment or cancelled surgeries.
• Maintain patient melanoma log.
• Retrieve monthly melanoma log from all office locations each month.
• Add patients to the melanoma log as needed.
• Notify and schedule patients with melanoma histories for follow-up as needed.
• Send certified letters to patients who have been noncompliant with follow-up.
• Coordinate referrals to the specialist for the general derm patients.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements/Skills:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant diploma or Certified Nursing Assistant diploma preferred.
• 2 years experience in patient care coordination within a medical office setting required.
• Must be proficient with verbal and written communication.
• Must be reliable.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) preferred.

Competency:

• EMR, iPad, computer knowledge preferred.
• Must be reliable and a self-starter.
• Proficient with written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Compliant with HIPAA and OSHA.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional medical environment. This role routinely uses standard office and medical equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, ultrasonic, and autoclave.

Physical Demands:

This is a largely sedentary role.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time 32-40 hour/week position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but hours may vary if performing medical assistant duties.

Travel:

To Other Offices As Required.
