ing to the Senior Hazardous Materials Specialist, this position will be responsible for the development and delivery of

Enterprise programs, policies and procedures for the Hazardous Materials Releases Program. They will also provide assistance with

other hazardous materials programs including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, the Enterprise Hazardous Waste

Management Program, the Petroleum Product Storage Tank Systems Program and the PCB Management Program, in order to

support Manitoba Hydro’s compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for providing technical guidance, training and recommendations with respect to prevention and response to

hazardous materials releases.

• Interacts with employees, provincial and federal officials, customers and suppliers of goods and services.
• Develop and implement training materials and programs including handbooks, codes of practice and similar technical

guidance documents.

• Provide leadership and technical guidance as the Enterprise expert and authority on hazardous materials releases.
• Act as the primary contact for technical assistance regarding hazardous materials releases, including data management in

EHSM to ensure timely and accurate ing of releases both internally and externally.

• Prepare analytical s related to hazardous material releases management monthly and as required.
• Maintains expert knowledge of current legislation relating to hazardous materials releases including the Environment Act and

the Dangerous Goods Act.

• Develop and deliver legislated training and support materials to employees for prevention and response to hazardous

materials releases.

• Provide technical guidance to line departments regarding prevention and response to hazardous materials releases.
• Support the Senior Hazardous Materials Specialist on Enterprise Environmental and safety programs related to hazardous

materials management, including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, the Corporate Hazardous Waste Management

Program, the PCB Management Program and the Petroleum Product Storage Tank Systems Program.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering with extensive training in Chemistry and/or Environmental Sciences as well as

a minimum of five years directly related experience in hazardous materials release response/environmental

management/protection programs.

• A graduate degree in a relevant field would be considered an asset.
• Experience in developing and implementing programs related to environmental stewardship and enhancement, particularly for

hazardous materials release response.

• Extensive experience with, and a thorough understanding of federal and provincial regulatory requirements applicable to

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $44.82-$61.88 Hourly,

$85,889.18-$118,580.54 Annually.
