Football Coaches Australia Hiring for Chief Executive Officer at Australia Full Time

Position Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) leads the strategic direction of Football Coaches Australia (FCA) and is responsible for the delivery of services to members. The CEO is responsible for advancing the interests of FCA throughout Australia by overseeing the day-to-day management of a membership sporting body and driving and delivering the commercial and strategic priorities as set by the Executive Committee (ExCo).

The CEO is a motivated leader, with the ability to engage and develop lasting, positive relationships with a diverse range of organisations and other key stakeholders.

The role requires a leader with a successful track record in managing a member-based organisation and working with volunteers. They also have the skills to navigate through complex issues prioritising, managing, and delivering outcomes for Coaches that fulfil the commercial and strategic priorities of FCA. The CEO will be required to work with well-known football people and frequently handle sensitive employment-related or personal information, so discretion is an explicit requirement of the role.

This is an honorary appointment and would suit a senior executive who is energised to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to Australian football, by working with the sport’s key stakeholders to promote and advance better outcomes for Australia’s football coaches, and for the game-at-large.   

Key Responsibilities

The CEO is expected to lead and oversee the delivery of the following key areas:

• Deliver annual strategic objectives within FCA’s four key pillars to support coaches, which are: Advocacy, Professional Development; Mental Health and Wellbeing; Gender Equity and Diversity.

• Support FCA Member advocacy relating to coach contract issues – negotiation, breaches, terminations, and payouts (Fair Work or FIFA Player Status Committee).

• Market and monitor the membership program, to increase member numbers and their overall interaction with FCA.

• Liaise with and manage relationships with football stakeholders.

• Pursue FA regarding the incorporation of FIFA regulations, within FA Club Licencing Regulations and FA National Registration, Status and Transfer Regulations, and the APL CBA negotiations regarding the incorporation of Standard contract and National Dispute Resolution Chamber for coaches.

• Prepare and submit an FCA application to become a Full Voting Member of the Football Australia Congress as per the Football Australia Constitution.

• Be responsible for the FCA website, and in liaison with designated Executive Committee members, all social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram) and publications of the association – (i.e. FCA News).

• Liaise with and manage deliverables within FCA partnerships – (i.e., XVenture; Global Institute of Sport; Sport Session Planner/ Coaches Voice; Soccerscene, Heartbeat for Football, SportsFx).

• Be responsible for the management of the administration, including without limitation the appointment of required contractors for the association.

• Act as the secretary of the association.

• Ensure that all revenue due to the association is collected and received and that all payments authorised by the association are made.

• Ensure that correct accounting procedures are followed showing the financial affairs of the association, including full details of all receipts and expenditures connected with the activities of the association.

• Oversee the delivery of the FCA Annual General Meeting and the FCA Annual .

• Other duties as requested by the Board.

• Increasing membership and participation across all program areas and expanding the reach of FCA across the country.

• Growing the perception of FCA as delivering tangible benefits to its members, and as a financially sound, well-run, and respected organisation.

• Maintaining strong relationships with Coaches, sponsors, and key stakeholders.

Location

This position is flexible, is not office-based and will primarily be a work-from-home situation. Travel around Australia may be required occasionally.

Hours of Work

The role will likely require 20-25 hours per week in a flexible working hours arrangement. There may be some weekend work and after-hours required at various times.
