JOB TITLE: Law School Recruiting Coordinator

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: M-F 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

LOCATION: Kansas City, MO Office (hybrid work environment)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Law School Recruiting Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position based in our Kansas City, MO office. This role is responsible for executing the firm’s law school recruiting strategy. This includes, but is not limited to, managing our summer associate program and OCI recruiting process, attending recruiting events, facilitating student engagement, and coordinating the firm’s attorney onboarding process. The Law School Recruiting Coordinator drives the recruitment process by setting clear expectations and delivering on commitments with a sense of urgency and incorporating the firm’s DEI goals and initiatives into all aspects of the recruiting process.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engage with law schools, law student candidates, and professional groups year-round to build employer brand awareness and a strong talent pool.
• Establish and maintain relationships with Career Services Office team members and student groups at target law schools to develop brand presence and support the long-term strategy.
• Coordinate and manage OCI and callback interview Process during 1L and 2L recruiting season including identification and scheduling of attorney participants.
• Participate in resume collection, review, and candidate selection.
• Schedule and participate in call-back interviews.
• Communicate with law student candidates throughout the recruiting process to provide a high-touch, personalized experience.
• Gather performance feedback and coordinate offer process with summer associate program leaders.
• Coordinate and manage summer associate program, including training, social events, budget management, evaluation process, and related activities/logistics. Serve as point person for summer associate program, both internally and externally.
• Maintain Summer Program webpage on firm website, ensuring content remains updated and relevant.
• Take an active role in NALP to be an industry expert in law firm summer programs; keep up with trends and bring new ideas and suggestions to the team.
• Communicate regularly throughout school year with outgoing and incoming summer associates to maintain engagement.
• Serve as point person for law clerks (law students who work with the firm through the school year) and summer interns.
• Helps measure the campus recruiting program’s successes and identify additional growth opportunities.
• Participate in the development and execution of diversity pipeline programs at the law student level.
• Assist in identifying ways to leverage social media and other technology to recruit top talent and brand Spencer Fane as an employer of choice.
• Work closely with DEI Committee, HR Manager, and Marketing Department to develop and maintain law school recruiting materials.
• Utilizes the firm’s recruitment tools and processes to execute workflow, maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with firm policies and practices.
• Coordinate firm’s attorney onboarding process, ensuring consistency and evaluating process to identify opportunities to positively impact employee engagement and retention.
• Uses data analysis to assist in making recruiting-related decisions.
• Travel as needed to attend law school recruiting related events and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Undergraduate degree required; business, human resources, or marketing preferred
• 2 or more years working in a professional services firm in recruiting, training, campus relations, or marketing; law firm preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• High degree of attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding candidates, firm matters, and recruiting matters
• Ability to work under pressure, handle conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines
• Ability to represent the firm in a favorable and business-like manner
• Up to 20% travel
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required
• Experience with applicant tracking systems (such as viRecruit) preferred
