The Associate Sales Representative works as an assistant to top-selling New Business Sales producers. Responsible for learning all agency processes, systems, procedures, and quality control measures. Responsible to help top producers by calling prospects, quoting prospects, selling policies, processing policies, and adhering to all operational procedures. Establishes customer rapport through mutual trust and respect.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists top producers with clerical/administrative work to learn the insurance industry. Prepares quotes, creates and sends applications, processes applications, completes sales process such as binding coverage and emailing ID cards.
• Efficiently and accurately calculates / presents quotes and writes insurance applications. Works knowledgably within carrier underwriting guidelines and effectively presents risks for consideration that fall outside of guidelines. Follows up regarding pending or incomplete transactions as needed.
• Places outbound calls to prospects within specified timeframe. Reviews and analyzes s and other data to monitor progress towards stated goals.
• Analyzes the prospect’s current insurance coverage and suggests additions or changes. Maximizes opportunities to upgrade and/or cross-sell additional products. Consistently asks for referrals.
• Tracks quote activity and generates periodic s for manager summarizing results.
• Keeps current with insurance company guidelines for multiple carriers / insurance lines. Maintains insurance product knowledge and selling techniques.
• Fosters positive relationships with carrier contacts.
• Responsible for meeting individual retention and quality of business targets. Reviews and analyzes lapse s and other data to monitor trends in terminations. Provides input to management to help identify opportunities to improve retention.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Associates degree and 2+ years experience in customer service and/or sales, preferably in the insurance industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate by phone
• Superior listening skills and ability to probe customer needs and opportunities through question-based selling and retention techniques
• Self-directed with good decision making and time management skills
• Proficient PC skills; knowledge of insurance administration software preferred

Certifications and Licenses

NYS Property & Casualty or Personal Lines license; or ability to become licensed within 90 days
