Position Description-R&D Engineer

The R&D Manager for the Plastics Packaging business oversees this position of R&D Engineer, which entails creating novel thermoplastic products and procedures and evaluating them for target markets. The person will play a key role in identifying environmentally friendly packaging options for our clients by putting concepts and technical insights through a thorough process to spur market expansion. This high level engineer will also oversee initiatives to boost productivity, capacity, and efficiency throughout our manufacturing facilities.

What you will do:

Become an authority in plastic additives and materials.

In a manufacturing scenario, attend to the packaging opportunities and internal and external client needs.

Deliver timely and cost-effective creative solutions to new and ongoing packaging difficulties including materials and processes.

conceive fresh concepts to aid the R&D product innovation and technology strategy.

Attend routine portfolio review meetings to ensure adequate portfolio balance and agreement on priorities.

In order to ensure that performance goals are satisfied, manage the technical integration of projects through cooperation with suppliers, internal cross-functional teams, and customers.

Create an atmosphere that inspires and engages people in the R&D organization to produce the desired results.

Foster a cooperative culture and open lines of communication to create a happy, safe work environment.

Chemistry, plastics engineering, or polymer science as a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree recommended

5+ years’ experience in the field, excellent technical background in plastics, resins, coatings, and laminates, and in-depth understanding of material testing and analysis

Extrusion, thermoforming, and injection molding processing experience is a bonus, as is knowledge of consumer-based food packaging.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
