The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. We work closely with our customers’ engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We pride ourselves in making contributions to open source and making our platforms easier to use.
We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform. In this role, you will be working with engineers from your team and our customers’ teams to apply your skills, perspectives, and creativity to grow as engineers and help solve our customers’ toughest challenges.

We are hiring a Creative Talent Manager with significant experience and expertise in designing and developing concepts that optimize the emotional and functional experience of a product, software, device, or service. With your team, you will be working side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build visual and interactive designs. Responsibilities
Product Design
- Leads complex product design initiatives from user insights to end-to-end experiences and communicates the value to leadership.
Design Components
- Owns, as a gatekeeper and reviewer, the use and adoption of latest design system (e.g., content templates, icons, form design, user-interface [UI] controls, navigation models, design trends) updates in the industry and/or making a case for acquiring the system. Helps others use the system and drives consistency, alignment, and standards across multiple teams.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicates effectively with leadership and cross-disciplinary teams through all stages of design and development. Cultivates and evangelizes product story to inspire excitement and support.
- Leads collaboration with creative team members, program managers, and developers to define and iterate on product features. Influences stakeholders across disciplines and connects dots between teams for optimal product designs.
Leadership
- Directs others to generate ideation solutions for complex products (e.g., involving many constraints, needing workarounds, requiring holistic view of interconnected systems) to improve product designs. Brings diverse teams together and provides input on the strategic utilization of a variety of perspectives when ideating (e.g., business, experience, technology). Synthesizes complex and challenging ideation solutions to a concise articulation of user wants and subsequent solutions.
- Creates clarity and builds energy for stakeholders. Provides oversight and guidance to the team of product designers. Owns accountability for team and product outcomes. Ensures full understanding of the original design and vision, and links to established problem and/or goal. Mentors designers in all areas of ownership. Influences those outside of design. Espouses values as a leader. Is an expert and leader in the craft of design. Acts a steward of creative work across their team. Interviews and screens candidates.
- Handles resource and budget management for a product team or studio (e.g., scoping projects, making the case for headcount, allocating resources, facilitating team members’ relationships)
Qualifications
Required / Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years of experience working in product or service design
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 8+ years of experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
- 6+ years product design experience including, but not limited to, any of the following: Game design and system design; 3D, AR/MR/VR design including sensor fusion; Location-based design; 2D, web, mobile and front-end design; information architecture and UI/UX; AI design, scripting, and narrative design; Visual, Art Direction, and storytelling.
- 3+ years people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers and collaborate across company boundaries.
- Experience working as part of geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams.
- 6+ years of experience shipping games or products and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
- 5+ years leading a team of designers and artists which includes direction and career management.
- Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%.
Product Design M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
