For GS 12: One year of specialized experience performing work that involves reviewing, developing, examining, investigating, adjudicating and authorizing of complex claims for medical disability programs and conducting quality reviews of medical claim decisions, provides medical disability training or managing/supervising a medical disability unit; knowledge of claims analysis and adjudication of medical disabilities, medical terms and findings, causes of diseases, treatment methods and probable results, and relation of physical impairments to ability; developing and evaluating pertinent medical facts and evidence to apply and interpret state and federal laws, regulations, policies, precedents and other criteria for physical and mental impairment disability cases.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: In addition to the specialized experience requirement listed above, applicants must have experience in making final medical determinations of disability at the initial, reconsideration, and/or continuing disability review level. You must show this experience in your resume. Applicants who do not meet the selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration.

COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience and education as described above may be combined to meet the minimum qualification requirements. Experience and education will be computed as percentages of the overall requirements and must equal to 100 percent when combined. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for GS-11 positions.
