Staffing Solutions Hiring for Mechanical Engineer at Vernon, CA Full Time
Full Job Description
We have an immediate need for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with project management experience for waste management company in the city of Vernon. This is a direct-hire position that offers a salary between $100k-$130k DOE.
Mechanical Engineer position overview
Oversee the engineering and drafting on various construction, maintenance, and repair projects for the Company, and work in cooperation with various departments on these projects.
Key Responsibilities & Duties for Mechanical Engineer
Prepare budgets for assigned projects, including estimating and obtaining bids to support costs, and assist the accounting department in the tracking of costs for these projects for comparison purposes.
Participate in obtaining, reviewing, and negotiating bids from 3rd party subcontractors and vendors, and develop and maintain positive working relationships with these 3rd party subcontractors and vendors.
Research and remain knowledgeable and current about applicable engineering codes and standards, local, State, and Federal building permits and regulations, and Company directives.
Follow along with projects from start to completion and continually communicate with the team and management regarding the status of projects, troubleshooting, budget changes, etc.
Coordinate the tracking, ordering, and construction of various replacement and spare components and pieces of equipment with the various Company Divisions.
Prepare and review detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
Confer with vendors to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to the installation of systems.
Supervise and train drafters, technologists, and technicians.
Qualifications & Skills for a Mechanical Engineer
- Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology for building and construction, mechanically functioning equipment, and production processes.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Ability to identify and determine solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to read and edit building blueprints.
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of staff, verbally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- PE stamps are preferred but not required
- At least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
- 10-35% travel requirement

Salary: $100,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
