Software Engineer Position Description

Position: Full-time; Location: Hybrid Remote (Location Dependent)

QMS Consulting (QMS) is an Education Technology (EdTech) and Information Technology (IT) Consulting firm specializing in Cybersecurity / Data Protection, Cloud Lifecycle, Software Development and Data Science. QMS seeks a Software Engineer to work within a dynamic and highly innovative team environment in our Agile software solutions group that supports federal government customers. The Software Engineer will perform tasks within the software development life cycle in an integrated computing environment.

In this role, you should be technically sound, detail oriented with the ability to lead tasks and ensure the delivery of quality software. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for this position.

Software Engineer responsibilities include:

• Design, build and maintain software solutions and databases
• Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, technical and entity-relationship diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
• Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
• Perform software testing to ensure high-quality software
• Maintain software in a centralized repository with version control such as GitHub, GitLab, etc.
• Perform software maintenance. updates, enhancements, and fixes
• Improve software operations by conducting software analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
• Communicate and coordinate with internal business customers and IT analysts to determine business requirements Work with business and IT management, software and data architects on IT management strategy

Software Engineer requirements include:

• 5+ years of proven hands-on experience as a software engineer
• 5+ years of proven hands-on experience deploying and managing databases
• Experience programming with C#, VB.net
• Experience Implementing GitHub
• Experience with modern software testing frameworks
• Experience managing software running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows
• Experience implementing Puppet for system management, a plus
• Experience supporting software deployed on AWS, a plus
• Collaborative team player who is detailed oriented, focused on software quality
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
• BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field
• Mandatory live coding skills assessment during interview process

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
