Full Job Description
LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Microbiology Lab Assisant in Phoenix,AZ. In this position you will work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: “Improving Health, Improving Lives”.
This position is responsible for assisting our technologists with a mix of Microbiology assays including EIA, PCR, Culture, and Microscopy.
Department: Microbiology
Schedule: Flexible / On Call
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Process culture and other samples according to SOP.
- Clean work areas, dispose of samples and locate all samples needed for testing
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma
- Previous experience is not required but given priority
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Able to work with urine, sputum, stool and body fluid
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
