The Boeing Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) team is seeking a Power Plant Operator to support our Seattle, WA site.
The Stationary Engineers and Boiler Operators control and maintain one to four boilers, and may control stationary engines, or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or for industrial and manufacturing purposes. The Stationary Engineers and Boiler Operators typically do the following: Operate boilers, and may operate engines and boiler associated auxiliary equipment. Industrial plants often have additional facilities to provide electrical power, steam, or other services.
The role may control and maintain these systems, which include boilers, pumps, compressors, and may also include air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, turbines, and generators. Stationary engineers and boiler operators start up, regulate, repair, and shut down equipment. You will monitor meters, gauges, and computerized controls to ensure that equipment operates safely and within established limits. You will use sophisticated electrical and electronic test equipment when servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and monitoring heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
You will also regularly perform routine maintenance. You may do a complete overhaul or replace defective valves, gaskets, or bearings. In addition, stationary engineers and boiler operators lubricate moving parts, replace filters, and remove soot and corrosion that can make a boiler less efficient. Most large office buildings, malls, warehouses, and other commercial facilities have extensive heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems that maintain comfortable temperatures all year long.
Position Responsibilities:
Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations
Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels
Activate valves to change the amount of water, air, and fuel in boilers
Fire coal furnaces or feed boilers, using gas feeds or oil pumps Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently
Check safety devices and perform environmental checks routinely
Record data and keep logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activity
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seattle, WA.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience with Boiler Operations
Valid state driver’s license
City of Seattle Steam Engineer’s License Grade 1
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience repairing and maintaining high pressure steam boilers and air compressors
High school graduate or GED
Relocation:
This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
