TITLE: Charge Entry Specialist
S TO: Demographic and Charge Entry Supervisor
Remote position. Hourly/Full Time Position
POSITION SUMMARY
Enters demographic and charge information and verifies insurance information for practice facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Enters demographic and charge information daily.
· Checks accuracy of batches before release, i.e. corrects concurrency problems, keying errors, etc.
· Obtains and updates requirements for various states as is necessary to process claims.
· Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Excellent computer, data entry and clerical skills, knowledge of business office procedures required. Must possess excellent interpersonal, clerical, telephone and communication skills. The ability to multi-task, deal effectively with a variety of situations requiring judgment and poise is necessary. Attention to detail and organizational abilities are essential. Must possess typing/data entry skills of 40 wpm minimum with displayed accuracy; knowledge of medical terminology.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree in business or related field preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ office experience, preferably in healthcare, required. Prefer a minimum of six months previous experience in charge entry in a medical office and must demonstrate ability to read various demographic information sheets and sort the information provided.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Interaction with providers, staff, and public may be constant and interruptive. The abilities to view a computer terminal, communicate electronically, answer a telephone, read, prepare and analyze data and figures constantly, as well as to communicate verbally are required.
