Macaloney Brewers & Distillers Ltd. is Looking for Production Operator Full Time

Job Description: Production Operator (Trainee Distiller- boiler engineer)

Macaloney’s Caledonian Brewery & Distillery, owned and operated by Macaloney Brewers & Distillers Ltd, is a rapidly growing single malt whisky distillery (5500L & 3600L Forsyth’s stills), 50 HL production brewery, and tourist destination, located just minutes from downtown Victoria. Over 650 investors have come together to fund this local venture which produces world-award-winning premium quality single malt whiskies and excellent craft beers. Our single malt whiskies will be exported to over 30 countries, and Twa Dogs craft beer range is distributed regionally, and between 30,000 – 80,000 tourists are ultimately expected to visit our brewery-distillery every year.

Quality has been woven into the heart of our business, as we strive to produce the best possible whisky, beer, and tour experiences. To meet this goal, we chose to locate in Victoria for its tourism potential and have drawn from both the finest traditions and state of the art brewing and distilling. Our business model and facility have already attracted an international team of world-class professionals in a booming industry on the beautiful Canadian West Coast.

Participate in all distillery functions, including but not limited to:

o Boiler operations (testing, scheduling inspections, maintenance)

o Distilling world class spirit

o Cask filling, cask maintenance & sampling

o Assist in packaging (kegs, cans, and bottles)

o Participate in peat smoking malt barley

o Warehousing

o Cleaning (clean in place & manual)

o Record maintenance including following of SOPs

o Following health & safety and GMP protocols

o Ensuring good housekeeping and overall plant hygiene

o All other production tasks as required

Skills / Requirements:

· 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate

· Production brewery or distillery experience an asset, but not a requirement

· Willingness to learn and develop skills as a distiller, washman and warehouseman

· Mechanical aptitude is an asset

· Forklift operators license is an asset

· Hard working, efficient and organized with an eye to cleanliness

· Ability to work in a team or alone

· Flexible schedule and ‘can do’ work attitude

· Night shift and weekends will be required

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and do heavy lifting

· Fluent in English – both written and spoken

· Basic computer skills

Salary: $50,000.00 per year
