The University of Maryland College of Information Studies is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to join its dynamic Communications Team. The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for editing, crafting, and posting social media content (based on provided news) to the college’s various social media channels; monitoring messages, questions, and comments on these channels; and gathering/ing on basic social metrics. This role participates in brainstorming and implementing special social media campaigns, contests, and paid ads. This position is also responsible for making website content edits at the request of the Communications Team and other college administrative teams; working with other teams and stakeholders to coordinate larger website content projects, which may include drafting or editing content; implementing website SEO, accessibility, and quality control best practices; and ing on website performance metrics. This position requires an ability to self-direct, excellent writing skills, working knowledge of all major social media platforms, and a high attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to create engaging multimedia content and compelling copywriting.
• Working knowledge of major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok).
• Basic understanding of design and image assets such as .png, .eps, and .jpg.
• Working knowledge of Wordpress and HTML.
• Basic knowledge of SEO, accessibility, and usability best practices.
• Strong quality control experience specific to an online environment.
• Excellent visual and written communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with all constituents within a highly diverse university environment.
• Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stay organized.
• Ability to take initiative, solve problems and deliver results without close supervision.

• Experience working in a higher education setting.
• Experience working with scientific or technical subject matter.
• Experience tailoring content for specific audiences.
• Has experience ing on social media and website performance metrics.
• Familiarity with Google Analytics.
