My client, a top tier law firm are recruiting for a Bookkeeper to join their private client group with the role being based near Chancery Lane Station in London.

The team

The private client group provides legal, tax and wealth structuring advice on a wide variety of issues to wealthy individuals, trustees and to other institutions and firms for themselves or their private clients. The work is international and covers wide-ranging technical areas of tax and law.

The trust and tax compliance team sits within the group and comprises three tax managers and two administrators, with partner support from across the wider private client group.

The team administers approximately 100 domestic trusts for wealthy families and entrepreneurs. The work covers the full spectrum of discretionary and interest in possession trusts and charities where the team manages the accounting and tax compliance cycle.

The role

Key duties will include:

• assisting with the trust accounting function for family trusts administered in our private client group;
• supporting the wider team particularly in the area of client due diligence and the maintenance of client due diligence information for trustees and beneficiaries;
• posting of transactional information (usually in relation to investment portfolios or rental properties) up to trial balance level; and
• subsequent generation of draft trust accounts

(Note – candidates with good Bookkeeping experience can be trained up in the sprcifics of administering trusts)

Subject to the experience of the candidate there may be the opportunity to become involved in wider client financial administration and ing including:

• cash flow forecasts; or
• the calculation of taxable income and capital gains.

The candidate

We are looking for:

• a candidate with a background in bookkeeping/accounting
• a candidate with mainstream bookkeeping/accounting experience gained in a different environment and willing to train/specialise in trust accounting. Proficiency with a mainstream accounting package such as Xero is desirable with the willingness to become proficient on the Troika system. Training and support will be provided by existing team members.

The ideal candidate:

• proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word;
• demonstrate qualities that will fit within a cohesive, supportive and friendly team; and
• it is essential that the individual has a hands-on approach and a strong work ethic.
