The Job Details are as follows:
The Lead Software Engineer will join the WorldCat Discovery development team. In this role, you will develop and maintain applications that help library patrons find and retrieve resources from their library and from other libraries worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Perform high level analysis and design software for new and existing systems
- Use industry standard programming techniques to translate requirements and designs into code
- Use the latest innovations for Hadoop development, such as creation of MapReduce jobs
- Work with others to design solutions for both offline batch processes and web-based applications
- Champion the use of the latest innovations in batch processing and UI development
- Design, code and test multiple modules of a system in a timely manner
- Participate in unit, system & acceptance testing by designing tests, building test data, along with making recommendations/improvements/fixes to the tested system
- Plan and assist in load, capacity, and performance analysis and/or testing.
- Assist in requirements creation by working with the product manager and other developers
- Support the application in production
- Contribute to architectural reviews
- Follow all OCLC ISO-9000 procedures and the SDLC as they pertain to work unit, and continually seek improvements to development procedures
- Participate in the analysis and implementation of third party solutions for OCLC applications with the ability to understand the impact and analyze the risk
Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience supporting applications in production
- Wide range of experience with common JDK technologies
- Experience developing accessible software
- Experience with and excitement to work on brownfield or greenfield projects
- Strong ability to communicate well with non-technical peers to reach a shared goal
- Detail oriented and can organize and lead small to medium sized projects
Desired but not Required:
- Experience with React, including functional components and hooks
- Experience with Spring (Boot, Core, others)
- Familiarity of CI / CD pipelines
