Schooner Jolly II Rover Hiring for Mate/crew Full Time

Crew position available on the 80’ Schooner Jolly II Rover for 2 hour sunset sails.

Learn traditional sailing or further your growth as a sailor aboard the only square-rigged topsail schooner in Key West

Responsibilities include-

• Prepare the vessel for passengers, which includes cleaning topside and below; stowing supplies; obtaining ice; preparing sails, etc.
• Assist in docking, passenger embarkation and disembarkation
• Sail handling and safety
• Welcome passengers and casual conversation throughout sail
• Serve light snacks
• Opportunities to assist in routine maintenance such as varnishing, painting, etc.
• Maintain passenger, vessel, and crew safety
• Shoot canons

In addition to responsibilities associated with sailing, enthusiasm for working with the public on a daily basis is essential- must have a great attitude, good work ethic and friendly personality. Physical fitness is necessary for raising sails and safely handling the ship.

-Experience not required

-Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and participate in random drug testing program (per USCG requirements)

Pay after each sail, including cash tips.

*We will be sailing public sunset sails on Fridays and Saturdays only from late May-August since we do 5 day Boy Scout trips during the summer.
