Job Description: CAD & Programming

We are seeking a highly skilled CAD and Programmer to join our metal-processing company. The ideal candidate will have experience in both computer-aided design (CAD) and programming, as well as a strong understanding of metal processing techniques.

Depending on the candidate’s skill the position may be tailored to fit the individual to ensure success for both the employee and the employer.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain technical drawings and blueprints using CAD software
• Develop and implement programs for Laser, Plasma, Press Brake, Beamcut, and Routers
• Proposal preparation and submission with follow through
• Developing and maintaining nesting efficiencies
• Grow the revenues and the profits in accordance with the business plan
• Identify and maximize all sales and marketing opportunities
• Liaise with purchasing department to ensure sufficient product is available to meet customer demand
• Troubleshoot and debug programming issues as needed
• Work closely with other members of the team to ensure production runs smoothly
• Continuously improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency

Requirements:

• Strong experience with CAD software (e.g. Solidworks, Pro-Nest)
• Ability to work with complex software and programs (eg Microsoft Office Suite )
• Proficient math skills: particularly good basic arithmetic, estimating, ratios, and percentages.
• Proficiency with email and spreadsheet programs
• Knowledge of metal-processing techniques and equipment
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently
• Ability to read engineered drawings
• Previous experience in a steel centre environment is beneficial but not a requirement
• Sales experience and ability to communicate with the customer base would be an asset

Education:

• Mech Tech degree, or CAD/CAM or related field or equivalent experience.
