Lafata Contract Services Hiring for Lead Responsible Engineer Full Time

LaFata Contract Services (LCS), a partner company of IMB Development Corporation, has been providing Project and Construction Management support in the electric and gas utility industries. Summary:

The Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of distribution facilities/systems. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles, or facilities. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects. Operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Leads regional electric distribution projects and programs from design phase through construction
• Performs Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) duties on large electric distribution projects
• Provide knowledge and experience to develop, manage and implement electrical engineering analysis, activities, and program
• Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise
• Leads and performs engineering tasks associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas
• Evaluates, develops, implements, and leads projects that have significant financial and operational impact
• Performs assignments while acting independently and may lead multi-discipline teams
• Provides recommendations and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness
• Provides training and/or guidance to others
• Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
• Provide complete task management of electrical engineering issues
• Participate in scheduled reviews for all engineering deliverables, and control distribution of electrical design drawing transmittal
• Generate Material Requests to order material as required

Education:

• Minimum:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college
• Preferred:
• Licensed Professional Engineer or Certification of Engineer in Training
• Graduate Degree or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management

Qualifications:

• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
• Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
• Working knowledge of project activity progress data and ing with project management understanding or experience
• Proficient in obtaining, organizing, and ing project progress input from stakeholders
• Proficient in MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-SharePoint
• Able to read, understand and obtain information from electrical design and construction documents
• Able to evaluate project planned, actual, accrued and forecasted data for project progress ing
• Able to plan, organize, and time manage work assignments to meet required objectives
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
• Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
• Knowledge or experience with recloser work
• Knowledge of aerial and underground residential distribution work
• Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices
• Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
• Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues
• Influences project decisions having a significant impact on the company
• Career related experiences is defined as changes in technical job responsibilities and does not have to include a change in department

Required Experience:

• 5 years Underground Electric Distribution Design experience
• URD and Mainstem design experience (strong preference)
• Hybrid work with expectation to attend customer meetings

Preferred Experience:

• Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with all management levels.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Physical Skills

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets LCS Requirements
• Employees must complete a background investigation and successfully complete drug screenings
• Must be able to travel to customer sites as needed
