JOB DESCRIPTION
RK&K is hiring Land Development Engineers to join our highly regarded team in Baltimore, MD or Washington, DC! As a Civil Engineer at RK&K you will provide land development consulting services to public and private clients throughout the DMV area. You will develop construction documents, expedite permits, and support construction phase services under the guidance and mentorship of a Project Manager.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Create and review site plan layouts, grading, drainage and stormwater management, utilities and other areas of civil infrastructure
- CADD plan preparation using AutoCAD, Civil3D and related design software
- Stormwater, Erosion and sediment control design
- Utility design: water, storm, sanitary, gas, electrical and telecom
- Prepare various permit applications and writing details s
- Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems.
- Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project.
- Work alongside Sr. Project Engineers and Project Managers from multi-disciplinary teams on creative solutions to land development projects
Required Skills and Experience:
- Two (2) – Eight (8) years of experience as a designer/engineer supporting mid to large sized civil projects in land/site development
- Understanding of grading and drainage
- Research and understanding of code requirements
- Erosion and sediment control design
- Utility Design – water, storm, sanitary, gas, electrical, inspection
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Above average/Excellent AutoCAD and Civil3D experience
- Drive to grow and take on additional responsibilities
Required Education and Certification
- EIT (successful completion of FE) or the ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related programs from an ABET accredited University/College
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Experience supporting local Washington, DC, VA or Maryland projects
