Job description
East and Westbrook Construction is growing and we have an opportunity for an AutoCAD Detailer. This position isn t for everyone as there are certain must haves with this position. For example, we need someone with at least five years of experience (We will consider three years but it is up to you to help us understand the experiences in that time) in miscellaneous steel detailing. If you have structural detailing, we want to talk with you as well. In addition to having the knowledge, skills and abilities of industry standards for steel fabrication/erection, you must have a strong attention to detail. Project management experience is a definite plus in this role as there are times when you need to be able to see the pieces as well as the big picture. We will ask to see a portfolio of your work.
Here is an overview of the position itself:
- Able to read & interpret blueprints as well as interpret drawings on multiple projects.
- Creates technical drawings in AutoCAD using job specs, drawings, methods and codes for
building construction independently with minimal supervision to provide accurate and timely
drawings.
- Makes changes quickly to existing plans from redline drawings.
- Successfully complete construction documents from preliminary drawings/sketches & own field
measurements.
- Ability to include floor plans, sections, elevations, schedules etc.
- Experience ordering appropriate quantities of materials needed for project.
- Assists with estimating projects when not completing drawings.
- Ability to review and understand plan specifications for Division 5.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. 3 years minimum (we prefer five) of recent industry experience in miscellaneous steel detailing
AutoCAD – 2D and/or 3D.
2. Strong skills in trigonometry and geometry.
3. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervisions and complete accurate, timely
drawings.
4. Able to work in a team environment.
5. Must have KSA s of industry standards for steel fabrication/erection.
6. Must possess knowledge or Industrial/Commercial building codes.
7. Must have the ability to manage multiple jobs and adapt to rapid changes.
8. STRONG attention to detail.
9. Must be willing to work in an office environment.
10. Good communication and organization.
11. Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and customer-focused.
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing. The job is performed outdoors, indoors and in various geographic locations.
