Best Buy Hiring for Senior Engineering Manager – Space & Visual Merchandising – Hybrid Full Time

This role is hybrid, which means you must be located within a drivable distance to one of our Best Buy corporate offices in Richfield, MN, Atlanta, GA, Boston, MA, Seattle, WA. You might be asked to come into the office up to 3 days per week.

Best Buy is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for its Space & Visual Merchandising team.

The Space & Visual Merchandising team supports the Best Buy design and implementations of retail store layouts (floor plans & planograms), recommendations for retail merchandise locations for optimal customer experience and performance of sales within the stores. This is an area of dynamic change for Best Buy, incorporating modern technology and analytics to create and support the best shopping experience for our customers.

What you will do as a Senior Engineering Manager:

• Lead a team of talented engineers
• Collaborate with product managers and UX professionals
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and leaders
• Implement and configure SaaS/PaaS solutions
• Integrate commercial off-the-shelf software into Best Buy systems
• Design and build custom software that deliver value on their own and/or complement third party solutions
• Conduct necessary analysis to resolve production issues
• TDD, paired programming, code reviews, and aggressive refactoring
• Work with open source software and tools (e.g. Spring, Apache, Tomcat, Git, Jenkins)
• Share knowledge with peers and direct s to reduce knowledge silos, help engineers grow in their careers, and make the team better

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent professional experience
• Five years of experience as a working software engineer building, deploying, and supporting custom software applications in an enterprise setting.
• One or more years of experience leading engineering teams using an Agile-based development methodology (Scrum, Kanban, XP)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience/proficiency in…

• Programming languages, e.g. Java, Groovy, C#, PL/SQL
• Implementation and deployment of modern web development solutions including: Java, Spring, REST services, relational databases, .Net
• Implementing SaaS/PaaS solutions, integrating with them, and managing vendor relationships
• Modern front-end frameworks such as React, Node, or Angular
• Design and development of complex technical solutions that operate at scale
• TDD and social programming practices
• Test automation (Selenium, Cucumber, etc.)
• Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Version control (Git or SVN)
• UNIX/Linux command line
• Implementing on premises to cloud migration
• Communication skills: with your team, with other teams, with vendors, with stakeholders and executives
