Senior accountant Job Description

Position Summary

Execute mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze options and make financial decisions aligned with company objectives.

Essential Job Functions

• Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments, and identify and suggest improvements for accounting reporting and cording procedures
• Journal Entries
• Accruals
• Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Audit reports for Worker Comp
• Month-end close process
• Financial reporting
• AD Hoc reports
• Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance
• Continue ongoing education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events
• Any tasks which the Director of Accounting or CFO deem necessary to further the interests of the department or company.
• Instruct other employees in the department in the execution and implementation of said procedures and protocols

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

• Performs mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel
• Support timely monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of accounts
• Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends

Education and Experience

• Must have a college degree in Accounting or comparable work experience in a related field. .
• Excellent communications skills, attention to detail, word processing, spreadsheet abilities, and knowledge of Accounting Software programs are required.

• Stable, nonpublic internet connection with sufficient bandwidth to participate in video meetings and other regular activities, with an alternative location considered as a backup.
• Working environment conducive to conducting business without distraction or interference
• Noise level in the work environment that is quiet to moderate
• A designated workspace which allows the Team Member to focus, preferably with a desk or worktable, comfortable chair, and good lighting.

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Spending continuous time on the phone and video calls.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
• Occasionally reach with hands and arms, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
